قسمتی از متن فیلم: The plaintiff is really made a difference for us and that we worked through a lot of mostly informal partnerships for years the plan for Health Project really helped us to evolve our local organization and include more people in that discussion you know for a long time we’ve worked
Together with city engineer’s office for example but to bring in folks from Public Works to start some new relationships with staff from our Parks Department to bring our Police Department into that conversation was really a significant evolution of our efforts and it really formalized how we started to look at our bike ped
Connections we really want to make that a part of just what we do instead of something that requires a special effort and really felt the plan for Health Project helped us evolve and move in that direction really the results of that particular part of our plan for
Health project I think was a much better understanding of what the circumstances were in this particular neighborhood and how people moved and wanted to move about that neighborhood on foot or on bike part of that we did identify a very specific project to make a very specific
Connection it was a connection that we in city government knew was lacking but the public really helped us define how to solve that problem and not only did they bring a solution to the table but they also bought into that solution and we’ve got a wonderful communication now
With group neighbors that are going to be really key to making that connection in the future they’re interested they want to be involved and plan for health project has really given us the foundation we need to implement that project at the right time one of the
Things that plan for health did for us entertainment project did for us is it really prompted us to re-examine the way we communicate with our state agencies particularly the Indian department Transportation the play such a huge role in all forms of transportation through their management of state highways
Through our community one of the biggest issues that came out of our bicycle pedestrian plan was problems at intersections particularly where our trails or bike lanes intersect with those state highways they really formed a barrier people being active and through plan for health we held a strategy session with
Our partners at n dot where they were really able to convey to us what their policies and guidelines and perhaps where were the areas where they needed to do a little more to address the context of their projects and how they were accommodating bicycle and pedestrians on their on their Honda
Crossed their highways so that conversation and really has led to other conversations with the indata including on projects that maybe weren’t part of plan for health do have a lot of implications for walkability and bikeability in our community or we could we could tie back to that discussion
That we had with n dot to have a better dialogue it really serve can bring a lot of the work that we’ve been doing together from our bicycle and pedestrian plan to our Complete Streets thoroughfare plan to our safe routes to school plan in a way where we can have a
Really meaningful and hopefully impactful discussion with our state partners to make sure that we’re all working together to improve viability and walkability in Columbus
